I’ve parted with the Cole Pratt Gallery on very good terms after nearly a quarter of a century. It was a painful decision for me to leave one of the finest galleries in the region but over the last many years the gallery’s clientele has become saturated with my work, resulting in fewer and fewer sales. As sad as I am to leave the Cole Pratt Gallery, I’m equally happy and excited to be a free agent, travel lighter, cast a wider net, and explore other markets in the region.
My Thursday plein air class is moving to City Park for the summer
Our new Thursday class location is on the bank of the lagoon in City Park by the WPA car bridge where N. Alexander Street goes over the lagoon. We will be on the City Park Avenue side of the lagoon. N. Alexander is the only street that enters the park from City Park Avenue.
This week I’ll be presenting in the Plein Air South convention in Apalachicola FL
I’ll be doing painting demonstrations, participating in panel discussions, and this Thursday afternoon, presenting, “Painting Katrina – documenting plein air a New Orleans ravaged by the forces of nature.” Here’s a link to the event’s website: yallcomepaint.com
New class location as of Thursday April 7 is Coliseum and 7th in the Garden District
We’ll try it out this first week and make a course correction if it doesn’t work out.

Belated Easter Egg Hunt! Don’t miss my hidden paintings at the Cole Pratt Gallery this month!! (click here for more)
There’s a very nice grouping of my paintings hung at the Cole Pratt Gallery this month but they’re easy to miss.. They’re on the far back hallway leading to the bathroom.
I’m honored to have won Best of Show in the Shadows on the Tech plein air event
I’ve posted the two paintings I submitted, including the piece that won Best of Show under the New Works category of Paintings: https://www.philsandusky.com/new-work/ . Shadows on the Teche Plein Air is a yearly event which benefits the national historic Shadows on the Teche house and museum: http://shadowsontheteche.org/
I’ve just added several images of new paintings to New Works category under Paintings.
Of particular interest are several paintings I’ve recently done of the Treme area. I haven’t painted there in almost 20 years. These new paintings will be denoted by “Treme” in the first part of a given painting’s title in the caption.

In time for the holidays I’m releasing two new series of archival prints!
First, I’m releasing a collection of prints of paintings I’ve done in Jacksonville, Florida – my hometown – during my frequent visits there. Also I’m releasing a second series of prints of my New Orleans paintings with a bit emphasizing a bit different subject matter than the first. As well as having paintings of New Orleans neighborhoods, it will focus a bit more waterways and maritime scenes in the region. Both collections of prints can be purchased on this website along with my previous print series.
